Jack Torrance takes his wife and son to the impressive Overlook Hotel in Colorado to take care of maintenance of the facilities over the winter season, when it is closed and cut off by snow. There, he seeks peace and quiet to write a novel. However, shortly after their arrival, strange, eerie paranormal phenomena start to occur.
