Greedy Jerry Lundegaard, married to the daughter of a wealthy man, tries to get his hands on some of his father-in-law’s money by hiring two hoodlums to kidnap his wife and demand a large ransom. But, as fate would have it, things go wrong, three brutal murders ensue, and the police intervene.
