Mildred Hayes’s daughter was raped and murdered as she came home one night. After months without progress in the police investigation, Mildred decides to take matters into her own hands, renting three signs to indict the incompetence of the town police. This puts both the local people and the authorities against her.
A police drama spiced with black comedy and featuring an indomitable woman determined to see justice done. Frances McDormand received the Oscar for Best Actress for her performance in the role of this “subversive” mother.
