Phantom Thread (El hilo invisible), Paul Thomas Anderson, USA, 2017
Original version in English with Spanish subtitles
Reynolds Woodcock is not just any old dressmaker: he is the most sought-after designer in 50s London. Reynolds and his sister will dress any smart woman who can afford their services. One day, the couturier meets Alma, who becomes his muse and lover. Little by little, Alma discovers that, beneath the dressmaker’s apparently pompous character is a broken man.
Phantom Thread is a formal masterpiece, a Gothic thriller that tells a turbulent love story. Oscar-winning Daniel Day-Lewis masterfully portrays the manic genius at the heart of the story.

Mr. Shingles (blues)
If you like your coffee black and strong, you will definitely “get” the blues that Mr. Shingles serves up: a smooth, dark, bitter sound like an injection of energy straight into the veins. The band play versions of classics, their deep, slow rhythms getting right down to the roots of the blues, a moody landscape overlaid by Brian O’Mahony’s cracked, soulful vocals.
Brian O’Mahony: Vocals, guitar, harmonica
Dara Luskin: Bass, vocals
Xavi Tomàs: Drums, vocals
Stephane Jaïs: Keyboards, vocals
Pedro Vera: sax
